Mission Statement
The mission statement of the Downtown New Westminster Business Improvement Area is to promote Downtown New Westminster as the preferred place to work, shop, do business, live, visit and enjoy.

BIA Benefits
The Downtown New Westminster Business Improvement Area (BIA) represents the interests of over 150 property owners and the 500 businesses located from the waterfront up to Royal Avenue, and from the Patullo Bridge to 10th Street.

The BIA provides many benefits and enables property owners and businesses to work together on an ongoing basis as a non-profit society whose mandate is to assist in the revitalization and promotion of Downtown New Westminster.

Goals
As a self-help organization funded by Downtown Property Owners and Businesses, the goals of the Downtown New Westminster Business Improvement Society include:

• Continuing to promote Downtown New Westminster through special events, attractions, promotions, and marketing initiatives.

• Continuing to utilize the Fraser River and our city's history as a focus for increasing the number of people, activity, and development in the downtown area.

• Continuing to work with Downtown Property Owners and Businesses, the City, Police Department and social groups to make Downtown New Westminster a safe and vibrant place to work, visit, live and shop.

• Assisting with the recruitment and attraction of new businesses and development to the downtown, and assisting with the retention of existing businesses.

• Continuing to encourage and facilitate pro-active planning, adequate zoning and design guidelines--both new and existing, which would help with the development of the downtown area while promoting mobility, safety, and beauty.

• Providing leadership and communicating matters of concern to our members, government officials, and to the public.
